    Introducing InfraCoir 900®: Ultra-Heavy Coir Geotextile for Extreme Erosion Conditions

    InfraCoir 900® is a 900gsm woven coir geotextile designed for the most challenging erosion control scenarios. As the heaviest product in the InfraCoir range, it combines high fibre density, excellent tensile capacity, and long functional life to protect steep batters, high-energy drainage channels, and exposed coastal or riverbank locations. Where site conditions exceed the limits of conventional blankets or lighter natural fibres, InfraCoir 900® delivers dependable, nature-based protection.

    Maximum Fibre Density for Critical Sites

    With a nominal mass of 900gsm and robust dry and wet tensile strengths in both machine and cross directions, InfraCoir 900® is engineered to stay in place under high shear stresses and repeated flow events. Its tightly packed coir structure helps anchor topsoil, reduce scour, and diffuse runoff energy, making it suitable for slopes steeper than 1:1 and areas subject to intense rainfall or overtopping flows.

    Durable, Biodegradable and Vegetation-Friendly

    Despite its strength, InfraCoir 900® remains fully biodegradable and vegetation-compatible. The open weave allows shoots and roots to penetrate easily, enabling native grasses, shrubs, or dune species to grow through the mat and ultimately take over the erosion control role. Over several years the coir gradually decomposes, enriching the soil with organic matter and leaving no synthetic residue behind.

    InfraCoir 900® is well suited to Australian coastal, riverine, and infrastructure sites where design lives are longer and environmental approvals are stringent. Its performance envelope covers high-risk slopes, energy dissipation zones, spillways, and banks adjacent to critical assets. For projects needing a staged approach, InfraCoir 900® sits above InfraCoir 400® and InfraCoir 700®—offering the same natural, biodegradable benefits with additional mass and durability for extreme locations.

    How InfraCoir 900® Complements the InfraCoir Range

    The InfraCoir series is designed to help specifiers “right-size” the solution. InfraCoir 400® suits general batters, drains, and landscaping works. InfraCoir 700® extends performance to steeper slopes and more exposed zones. InfraCoir 900® is selected when sites are steep, heavily loaded, or difficult to access after construction—where a higher level of insurance against erosion is justified. All three share the same 100% coir composition and biodegradable behaviour.
