Introducing InfraCoir 700®: Heavy-Duty Coir Geotextile for Steeper Slopes and Higher Flows

InfraCoir 700® is a 700gsm woven coir geotextile designed for erosion control on steeper batters, drainage channels, and exposed embankments. Sitting between InfraCoir 400® and InfraCoir 900® in our natural fibre range, it offers increased fibre density and shear resistance for sites that experience stronger runoff, higher flow velocities, or longer establishment periods before vegetation can fully take over.

Engineered for Demanding Erosion Control Applications

With a higher mass per unit area and greater tensile capacity than lighter coir blankets, InfraCoir 700® provides reliable surface protection where standard erosion control fabrics may be insufficient. Its open weave helps break up surface water energy, reduce scour, and hold topsoil in place while seeds germinate and roots anchor into the profile. This makes it ideal for infrastructure projects, coastal edges, and rehabilitation works that require dependable performance over multiple wet seasons.

Natural Performance in Australian Conditions

Manufactured from 100% coconut coir fibre, InfraCoir 700® is well suited to Australia’s variable climate—handling intense rainfall events, high UV exposure, and extended dry periods. The coir fibres are naturally durable and slowly biodegradable, delivering functional longevity of several years on site (subject to conditions) while vegetation establishes and assumes the primary erosion control role.

Biodegradable and Environmentally Responsible

InfraCoir 700® contains no synthetic nets or plastic components. As it decomposes, it contributes organic matter back into the soil profile, supporting soil structure and microbiology rather than leaving waste behind. This makes it a strong fit for projects with environmental approval requirements, riparian works, or nature-based solutions where long-term ecological outcomes are just as important as short-term erosion control.

How InfraCoir 700® Fits Within the InfraCoir Range

The InfraCoir family is designed to give specifiers clear options. InfraCoir 400® is typically selected for general slopes, swales, and landscaping where moderate protection is required. InfraCoir 700® steps up the performance for steeper batters, higher shear stresses, and more exposed locations. For the most extreme conditions or longer design lives, InfraCoir 900® offers the heaviest fibre density in the range. All three are fully biodegradable and compatible with native revegetation strategies.
