Geocell Accessories Guide: Supporting a Stronger Infracell® System

    Tendon 5

When installing Infracell® geocells, choosing the right accessories is key to ensuring a secure, long-lasting system — especially for trafficked or load-bearing surfaces. This guide outlines the essential components, their roles in the system, and practical sourcing advice to help simplify your procurement process.

    1 | InfraLock™ Connectors

    Purpose:
InfraLock™ connectors are used to join adjacent geocell panels during installation. They interlock cells at the seams to create a continuous mattress with uniform performance across the surface.
    - Each pair of adjoining sections (8x34 cell panels) typically requires 34 pieces of InfraLock, inserted into the connection slots between cells.
    - That’s approximately 42 sets per panel.

Tip: If you're working on steep slopes or high-load areas, ensure connectors are securely fastened before anchoring or filling.

2 | Anchor Heads (Rebar Anchoring System)

    Purpose:
Anchor heads are used to fix the geocell panels to the subgrade and prevent movement during infill or service. They are typically mounted onto steel rebar pins driven into the ground.
    - We supply the plastic anchor heads.
    - Each panel requires approximately 15 anchors.
    - We do not supply steel rebar, but we recommend sourcing it locally, as it’s readily available at hardware stores.

    Where to get rebar pins:
You can easily purchase suitable steel rebar from most hardware suppliers.

3 | Nylon Tendons (Optional for Slope or Vertical Applications)

    Purpose:
Nylon tendons act as internal restraints to hold the geocell structure together across its length — especially useful on steep slopes, embankments, or vertical walls.
    - Typical configuration: 2 tendons per panel, each approx. 14 m long.
    - This applies to Infracell50 & 75 (8x34 cell layout).

Tip: Tendons are optional for most flat applications but become essential in slope stabilization or where anchoring alone may not be sufficient.

    Final Notes

    - The accessory quantities listed here are recommended based on typical installations. Depending on site conditions and design requirements, you may increase or decrease quantities.
    - Always consult with your geotechnical engineer for high-performance or custom applications.
